ONE-POT CABBAGE CASSEROLE

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. ground beef
  • Salt and pepper or creole seasoning
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup rice, uncooked
  • 3 large handfuls of roughly chopped cabbage
  • 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups of water 
  • 1 14 oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 cup shredded cheese. I prefer Colby Jack.

How To Make It :

  • First, start by Seasoning and browning the ground beef and onions. 
  • Then Drain off the grease.
  • Once onions are ready, add your cabbage, tomato sauce, rice, 2 cups of water, diced tomatoes and Stir.
  • When it comes to boiling reduce heat to medium low and cover to simmer for about 25 to 30 minutes or until rice is done and cabbage is soft. 
  • lift the lid after 20 minutes to make sure rice cooks well.
  • Once your rice is cooked, top with cheese and cover for a few minutes for the cheese to melt. 

NOTES :

  • If you prefer spicy food use a can of Rotel instead of diced tomatoes. 
  • Freeze it before baking, if you are planning on preparing this casserole for future use. 
  • Lemon Butter Chicken, Grilled Chicken Kabobs or Baked Chicken Parmesan goes good with cabbage for dinner.
